Trillium Flow Technologies, a specialized manufacturer for the nuclear and aeronautical sectors, has seen its business take off in France and internationally from its base in Saint-Victoret, Provence. Renowned for its unique know-how in valves designed for nuclear power plants, the company is participating in the upgrade of France's infrastructure and the installation of new reactors. It has 12 job openings in the sunny south of France.

The future looks very bright for Trillium Flow Technologies France, which is working alongside EDF as part of the "Excell Plan" to execute major refurbishment plans at French nuclear power plants. It is also getting a big boost from the many orders placed by Airbus Helicopters.

"We are modernizing the valves on all 56 units in France. The aim is to replace the active part, which consists of addressing new accident scenarios while improving our equipment's performance. We have designed a unique system with extremely reliable redundancy. It took three years of research and a patent application," says Stéphane Lamotte, nuclear and aeronautical sales manager at Trillium Flow Technologies France (TFT).

54 years of international leadership

TFT's roots in Provence go back to 1968, when the small manufacturing firm Sebim was founded in Châteauneuf-les-Martigues. The valves are still sold under the brand name Sebim, which was bought out by Weir in 1998 and then by Trillium in 2019.

The company's expansion resulted in a move to Saint-Victoret with a three-acre lot where it owns 65,000 ft2 of buildings that house manufacturing operations, including the latest generation of digitally controlled machines. "Here in Provence, we handle pre-sales, sales, design, validation testing, production, assembly, testing and delivery. After merging with our American and English sister companies, we have also added steam isolation valves,"  says Stéphane Lamotte.

The site is not far from a high-profile customer, Airbus Helicopters, for which TFT designs hydraulic subassemblies and gearbox subassemblies. "We filled our order book in 2021 with manufacturing spread over 2022 and 2032. Our collective know-how is essentially derived from the skills of our teams," explains Stéphane Lamotte. Trillium Flow Technologies employs 310 people in France at two sites; half of them work in Saint-Victoret. This medium-sized business is recruiting 12 people in 2022 (research and design, assemblers, technicians, etc.). It is betting on quality of life in the region to attract talent. The appeal of sunshine has already helped lure two new hires from Brittany and the North.

Trillium Flow Technologies France posted total sales of €67 million 2021, 50% of which came from exports to China, India and South Korea. The company has recorded sales growth between 3% and 5% each year.
