Provence Promotion Out to Conquer Mobile World Congress - MWC 2017

Meeting with mobile and telecoms professionals

Provence Promotion will be taking part in the Mobile World Congress, the international mobile and telecoms show taking place from February 27 to March 2 in Barcelona. Its mission, through B2B meetings, will be to persuade companies that Provence is a key location for expanding into telecoms, smartphone, mobile content and connected object markets. At a networking event organized by Provence Promotion, in partnership with Euroméditerranée and Aix-Marseille French Tech, the "Invest in Provence" Awards will reward three successfull companies which have  developed their businesses in the region.

The world-leading Mobile World Congress event is one of the most awaited exhibitions for mobile and telecoms professionals. A global showcase for the latest innovations and trends, such as artificial intelligence, smart cities, driverless cars and augmented reality, the MWC will be attended by delegations from many countries including France, which will have its stands in the French Tech Halls 5 and 8.1.

Faced with the worldwide growth in mobile usage, and the concomitant increase in data traffic, the markets will need to adapt even more rapidly. Thanks to companies such as Orange and Interxion, who are investing massively in connectivity with the laying of new submarine cables and new fiber optic networks, the Aix-Marseille Provence region is already well prepared, being the largest data center location outside Paris.

Targeted Canvassing at the Show and Investor Tours to the Region
The Provence Promotion teams, along with Euroméditerranée, will be present during the four days of the exhibition, specifically targeting companies in the IOT and mobile apps sectors. More than 30 B2B meetings have already been scheduled.

After the exhibition, international companies in the fields of the IOT and smart cities have been invited to come and discover the potential of Aix-Marseille Provence during a visit on the theme of the Smart City. The twenty or so companies who have accepted the invitation from Provence Promotion and its partners (Euroméditerranée, The Camp, Pays d’Aix Développement, Port of Marseille Fos) will be visiting the key projects underway across the region, including the “Smartseille” and XXL environmentally-friendly districts, which will be connected to the Thassalia marine geothermal power plant -the first in France- and the “smart port”, where the latest technologies have been put at the service of logistics.

Three "Invest in Provence" Prizes

To showcase the dynamic nature of the industry locally, Provence Promotion, Euroméditerranée and Aix-Marseille French Tech will be organizing a networking cocktail on Monday February 27 on stand 5J81 - Hall 5, occupied by Crosscall, an Aix-en-Provence company specialized in outdoor mobile technologies, with the aim of presenting the Aix-Marseille French Tech ecosystem.

During the event, Invest in Provence Awards will be presented to three companies: Crosscall, which has been growing locally at an exponential rate (+1987% in turnover between 2012 and 2015);  the US multinational UL, which set up its European center of expertise specializing in securing financial transactions in La Ciotat and the startup Fin-track, which recently chose Marseille as the base for the first price comparison website for financial products aimed at businesses.

The event will bring together many local stakeholders and potential investors and provide an opportunity to discuss the latest trends and business openings in Provence.
