Provence takes pride of place

Created in 2006, the Espace Provence is a dedicated 650 sq. m. stand area in which the industry’s majors (the FRIAA [regional federation of agribusiness industries], Procamex and Provence Méditerranée Export) and 35 companies from the sector will be showcasing their expertise under a common banner. It’s also within this exclusive area - Hall 5A Epicerie, stands H188 ety H206 - that Provence Promotion will be promoting the Bouches-du-Rhône’s agribusiness industry.

Agribusiness in the Bouches-du-Rhône: A favorable environment and a dynamic industry

With a turnover of € 6 bn, 30,000 direct jobs and more than 1100 businesses (one third of which in the Bouches-du-Rhône département), the agribusiness industry is one of the heavyweights of the PACA Region’s economy.

Combining natural assets and a network of innovating and dynamic SME’s, Provence has become one of the French agribusiness industry’s leading regions.

Provence offers numerous advantages, with an excellent multimodal infrastructure, its proximity to major consumer markets and the easy supply with raw materials, either from local sources or through the port of Marseille-Fos.

Making full use of this favorable environment, the Provence Region has developed an expertise that has made it a center of excellence for the agribusiness sector with:

  • Leading research laboratories;
  • Economic partners, such as the FRIAA (regional federation of agribusiness industries), the CRITT PACA (the regional center for agribusiness innovation and technology transfer) and the CTCPA (the technical center for agricultural produce preservation);
  • A competitive cluster, the PEIFL (European Fruits and Vegetable Innovation Cluster); - Major international groups (Coca-Cola, Haribo, Pernod-Ricard…);
  • SME’s that are committed to innovation while at the same time preserving the Provençal traditions (Confiserie du Roy René, Jean Martin, La Fermière…).

A shop window for the Provençal agribusiness offer

It is these assets that Provence Promotion, in collaboration with its partners, will be showcasing at the SIAL International Food Exhibition.
The Espace Provence provides an opportunity for all the stakeholders in the PACA Region’s agribusiness sector to demonstrate their industry’s drive, promote their regional produce and know-how and to put this jewel of the Provençal economy on the world stage.
