Beatrice Aliphat, Vice President of Provence Promotion awarded them the "Invest in Provence" label.

Present in Vitrolles for more than 30 years, the German group was in need of larger premises made necessary to cope with its increase in business. Liebherr's choice of location for its new structure fell on a 4-hectare site in Rognac. This new €12-M investment underlines Liebherr's belief in the region, in particular its construction, manufacturing and logistics sectors.

The family-run Liebherr Group, whose traditional French base is in Colmar, is one of the world's largest manufacturers of construction machinery. With 100% of the stock owned by the Liebherr family, the company has also made a name for itself in other fields as a high-tech services provider and controls more than 130 companies across the world.

Liebherr has relocated its business activities from Vitrolles to brand new premises on a 4.3 hectare site in Rognac (2600 sq.m. + of office space, 4000 sq.m. + of workshop space) at a cost of €12M. The site now houses several trades including earth-moving, concrete technology, mobile and tower cranes, port and marine cranes and special foundations, the objective also being to bring all the regional divisions together under one roof. Around 80 people work on the site at present.

Provence Promotion, which provided them with assistance in this move, in particular encouraging their choice to stay in the region, presented the company with the Invest in Provence Label award at the new site's opening on Friday March 9. The label symbolizes the Liebherr Group's induction into the community of businesses having recently invested in the region, its investment contributing to the enhancement of the Aix-Marseille Provence Metropolitan Area.

By remaining in Provence, the Liebherr Group will continue to be able to take advantage of a booming and diversified region, open to the world, which attracts talent from all over the world.
