Provence, a paradise for creative industries

Provence is where the first movie for projection was ever shot. L’Arrivée d’un train en Gare de la Ciotat. (The Arrival of a Train in la Ciotat) was produced in 1895 by the Lumière brothers. The choice of location was no coincidence; indeed no other area in France offers such natural lighting. Even today, Provence is the most filmed area in France along with Paris.

Provence has rapidly become a renowned site for film production studios with the Red Cross studios (1916-1930), the Marcel Pagnol studios (1937-1950), the Saint Marthe studios (1952-1970). A place to cross path with world famous stars! Since the launching of the Cannes Film Festival in 1947, Provence has become a worldwide must-attend rendez-vous for the motion picture industry.

In the age of information technologies, the natural attractivity of the area, together with a voluntarist policy of media development, has made Provence one of the most dynamic centers in southern Europe. This is where the most watched Prime Time TV series in France « Plus Belle la Vie » is produced, along with Alexandra Ledermann and Lea Passion Mode, two of the best-selling video games in the world, and the animated series Le Manège Enchanté, one of Europe’s successful productions.
