After opening an agency in Marseille in 2021, Amoès is continuing to develop

Amoès, an engineering firm based in the Paris area, was given an Invest in Provence award by Provence Promotion in December 2023 in recognition of the firm opening a branch in Marseille, its fourth in France. For Damien Lambert, manager of the agency, the “Marseille en Grand” public investment program to renovate housing and schools in the city offers a tremendous growth opportunity for the firm.

Specializing in an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly approach to designing buildings and neighborhoods, Amoès Marseille, which opened in March 2021, was given the Invest in Provence award at the recent SIMI business and commercial property trade show held at Porte de Maillot in Paris.

“The award is a source of pride and great encouragement to continue developing the agency. We arrived in Marseille without any network or contacts. Provence Promotion helped organize meetings with local authorities, property developers, and architects. The economic development agency also presented us with various locations for our project, and we ended up choosing Cité Fab in the Euroméditerranée district because of the presence of key stakeholders in our ecosystem. This coworking site is run by Rougerie+Tangram and it is a good place to foster connections with other professions in the sector,” says Damien Lambert, head of the Amoès cooperative. Indeed, since moving into this location, Amoès has begun working with Rougerie+Tangram, an international urban planning and landscape architecture firm based in Marseille.

Renovating schools and housing

As soon as Amoès opened in Provence, the agency began to win contracts to support major renovation projects in the Aix-Marseille-Provence metro area and beyond. The team of four based in the Marseille office covers a broad territory that extends from Nice to Montpellier and from Marseille to Avignon.

“Marseille has great potential for renovations to improve energy efficiency. There’s an urgent need to scale up energy renovation. We are positioned to carry out major renovation work on schools and residential buildings. We’re making sure that the materials we use are sourced in an environmentally responsible manner while also keeping costs as low as possible for both owners and tenants. We have recently won a contract to renovate two buildings in the Noailles neighborhood (for the SPLA-IN Aix-Marseille-Provence public urban development company). We’re redefining the levels of insulation, the types of heating, the ventilation protocols, and the thickness of the insulation,” explains Damien Lambert. The Marseille agency either responds to calls for tenders from public authorities and developers, or serves as a project manager in collaboration with architects and/or general contractors.

Amoès is also working on behalf of the Société Publique des Écoles Marseillaises, which is responsible for renovating some Marseille schools. The firm has carried out energy audits for three sites and is part of a consortium providing project management assistance for the planning of renovations at five schools that are part of the second wave of work that will involve a total of 15 schools in Marseille.

“Our ambition is to increase our energy renovation activities by 40% to 70% over the next five years,” says Damien Lambert.

Founded in 2007 in Asnières, near Paris, Amoès employs 40 people and now has agencies in Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, and Marseille.
