The Leading Event for India’s Biotech Industries

Described as the “Indian Silicon Valley", Bangalore has become a world economic and scientific hub as well as the mecca for Indian biotechnology. From June 2 to 4, the city will be hosting Bangalore INDIA BIO, the industry’s premier event in the country.
India, which has been implementing a national strategy for its biotech industries for many years, will be using these 3 days to showcase is know-how, placing the national and international spotlights on its huge wealth of expertise in these new technologies’ many applications (health, environment, agriculture etc.).
Special attention will be paid to applications in the agribusiness sector with, for the first time, an "AgriBiotech Day" on June 4. The sector’s latest developments in the fields of biodrugs and generics will also occupy a prominent place, notably with a conference that brings together the pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and Jubilant Biosys from Bangalore.
In figures, Bangalore INDIA BIO is centered around 25 scientific and business conferences, 18 presentation stands and an estimated 475 business meetings. Created 10 years ago, the event this year will play host to 150 exhibitors presenting their activities to 5,000 visitors and 800 overseas delegations.
Matthieu Vis, Life and Health Sciences Project Manager at Provence Promotion, will be attending the event as a visitor to discover the opportunities offered by an Indian market now at a level of maturity to be looking towards export itself.
His mission, which extends through to June 9, 2010, will allow numerous contacts to be made with potential partners (research establishments, hospitals, clusters etc.). A visit to the new Eurobiomed representative office also is planned; the health sector competitive cluster for the PACA and Languedoc-Roussillon regions opened an office in Hyderabad in March, following the signing of an agreement with the FABA (Federation of Asian Biotech Associations). This novel partnership should encourage exchanges with the Asian continent, reinforce scientific cooperation and facilitate the transfer of technology and R&D projects.
